noisy will be offline for up to 24 hours from 03:00 on Friday 12 May. This is to allow us to install an additional 360GB of storage capacity, bringing the total to 540GB.

Twenty-four hours of downtime has been scheduled to allow for full backups to take place to both tape and a remote hard disk storage unit. After the upgrade the data will be restored and verified before noisy is brought back online. We hope to have everything back online by 18:00, although extra time has been allowed for any problems that might occur.

This is the last major period of downtime for the foreseeable future. The increased frequency of scheduled downtime over the past two months has been part of a major push to get things up-to-date for the summer period.
